Discouraged workers are not included in the U.3 measure of unemployment, which makes the measure useless. The only purpose of U.3 is to keep bad news out of the news. the U.3 unemployment rate only measures those who have not been discouraged by the inability to find a job and are still actively seeking employment.
The government produces another unemployment measure, U.6, which includes people who have been discouraged by the inability to find a job and have been out of the work force for less than a year. This measure of unemployment is 14.7%, a number that would get attention if reported.
When the long-term (more than one year) discouraged workers are included, the US unemployment rate is about 22%. In other words, the real US rate of unemployment is almost three times higher than the reported–headline rate–of 8.1%. What is the purpose of reporting an unemployment rate that is about one-third the real unemployment rate? The only answer is deception through Happy News.

The real rate of unemployment is 23%, not the official figures we hear on a regular basis. Italy's economy contracting point seven percent in the last quarter: And for the powerhouse, Germany: its Industrial, construction and manufacturing all slumped for June: The euro- zone debt crisis continues to threaten the survival of the 17-nation currency bloc, affecting non-Eurozone members, like the UK, where the Bank of England said it did not expect the UK to grow out of a recession. But the more alarming picture: the lack of growth, whether it’s for each country, developing countries, or the global economy as a whole.

Americans elected Obama president expecting that he would restore the rule of law. Instead, he codified the Bush regime’s transgressions and added some of his own. No one of my generation could have imagined the president of the US sitting in the Oval Office signing off on lists of American citizens to be murdered without evidence or due process of law.
So which do you want? The Republican panderer to the rich and Israel whose foreign policy is war or the Democrat panderer to the rich and Israel whose foreign policy is war?

Jobs numbers are out for July. Total non-farm payroll employment rose by 163,000, beating expectations of 100,000, and the headline unemployment rate inched up from last month to 8.3%. But given seasonal and birth-death adjustments how much stock can you put in these numbers, and how does the election year factor in? Instead, Let’s just apply common sense. According to the BLS, there were 163,000 new nonfarm payroll jobs created in July. This figure is about 13,000 more jobs than is needed to keep pace with population growth. Therefore, the unemployment rate should have declined fractionally. Instead, the unemployment rate (U3) rose from 8.2% to 8.3%.
The government that lies to you about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, about Iraq’s al Qaeda connections, about the Taliban in Afghanistan, about Osama bin Laden, about Libya and Gadhafi, about Iranian nukes, about Syria, about Pakistan, about Yemen and Somalia, about Bradley Manning, about Julian Assange and Wikileaks, indeed about everything under the sun, also lies to you about jobs, unemployment, economic recovery, GDP growth, 9/11, the “terrorist threat,” everything. Try to find anything that the government has said over the past 6 presidential terms that is not a lie.

Appearing during the middle two hours, former wrestler, actor, governor, and bestselling author, Jesse Ventura, shared his contention that the ineptitude and gang-like mentalities of both the Republicans and the Democrats have allowed corporations, businesses, and politically-motivated wealthy individuals to manipulate elections, and silence the average American voter. The Democrats and Republicans deliberately discourage third party candidates, and make it difficult for them to participate in the presidential debates, he noted. These two big parties are "very much like pro-wrestling," he commented. "In front of the public they're adversaries and they're going to kill each other, while behind the scenes they're working together-- they're business partners."
The two-party system keeps people stupid, with conservatives automatically voting for Republicans, and liberals voting for Democrats, without considering the individual merits of each candidate, he continued. In the upcoming November presidential election, it doesn't matter who wins-- we'll still get the same policies, he argued (Ventura said he is supporting the Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson). If Ventura were President, among the things he said he'd do is close America's foreign military bases, enact campaign finance reform to eliminate the "system of bribery," and abolish income tax and switch to a national sales tax.
He also spoke about the mysterious death of past C2C guest Dr. Fred Bell, who the day before he died of a heart attack, had flown to Minnesota to tape a whistle-blower segment on free energy for Ventura's TV show, Conspiracy Theory. Off the record, Bell told him that he had a CIA handler who was going to go ballistic when he found out about the interview.
